A Mayan community In wester Belize close to Guatemala. First explored in 1890. It is believed to have been settled in the "preclassic to pro classic period with most of its growth prior to 600 AD. There are many Mayan sites in Belize and in some rual inland communities a Mayan dialect is still spoken.
